Ribbed Knit Scarf Revisited

Welcome to Knitting with Liz!

This blog post is a revisit of my earlier post Rib Stitch Scarf.

I have recently started knitting a scarf with this pattern and I've noticed a few things. First: rib knit patterns go much more quickly than the garter stitch patterns. Rib stitch is a bit more tense than the garter stitch, but that tension comes from distinct rows that come together very quickly.

I also ended up starting the scarf several different ways. (Using super bulky yarn and size 10 needles) The first time, I cast on 16 stitches. This looked nice on the needle, but ended up looking half the width later on down the line. Next I tried 24 stitches. The scarf was far too big. I settled back onto 20 and love the current width of the piece.

Sometimes I notice myself choosing a pattern but failing to commit to it. It is easy to change it up when you start a project, but I realized that if I would have stuck to the pattern I could have saved time and knitted further down the scarf. I would encourage you to find a pattern you like and stick with it! This will save you time down the road.
